June 20, 2022 – Nuke Puck Release!
Members and supporters of We the Nuclear Free North released wooden pucks painted with the radioactive material symbol into waterways that could be contaminated by the proposed operations and nuclear waste burial in the deep geological repository west of Ignace. December 7, 2021 – We the Nuclear Free North members Dodie LeGassick (Environment North), Brennain Lloyd (Northwatch) and Sylvia Green-Guenette (Sunset Country Spirit Alliance) participated as panellists in the City of Dryden’s first City Council Engagement Session on the NWMO’s proposed burial of nuclear fuel waste nearby. 2020 – We the Nuclear Free North is formed as an alliance of individuals and organizations concerned about potential plans to bury highly radioactive nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario; the group begins discussing how best to raise awareness about this issue

On June 7, 2022, We the Nuclear Free North presented a webinar: “Nuclear Waste Transportation and Northern Ontario: A Risky Business”, about the transportation of radioactive waste in Northern Ontario, and what the risks and issues are with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s plan to transport, bury and then abandon all of Canada’s high-level nuclear waste in a deep geological repository.
