Ongoing Online/Paper Petition Opposing a Deep Geological Repository in Northwestern Ontario

NEWS FLASH (with lightning image): 13,505 signatures collected on petition opposing nuclear waste burial in Northwestern Ontario

An ongoing petition, launched in 2019 by Environment North, and offered on both Change.org and in paper format, expresses opposition with this paragraph:

“We, the undersigned, do not support the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s nine-step selection process for a nuclear waste disposal site, and we strongly oppose having a Deep Geological Repository for high-level nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario.”

As of Sept. 12, 2022, this ongoing petition (online + paper format) has gathered 13,505 signatures: 4,140 from outside Canada; 9,365 from within Canada.
